What started out as a conversation about whether or not to replace the wallpaper in the old North Star Lounge became a full-scale remodel as the Lounge was remodeled from the concrete out, rechristened "Blanche's Cabaret", and reopened on November 7, 1998. In place of the smoky blue walls and blue carpet, the feeling of the Arts and Crafts movement of the late 1900s and Early Twenties has taken residence.
A new logo, designed by local graphic designer Steve Lenius of Movable Type reflects the new theme. A new and bigger stage, new lighting, and sumptuous new carpet all help to frame some of the best cabaret entertainment in the area. Steven Anderson's 1991 paper portrait of K.T. Oslin (inspired by the cover art on the album "This Woman") holds court above the fireplace mantle in a new copper frame. In the entry are 2 framed original blueprints from the 1946 remodel of The Town House, and on the other side is a pen and ink drawing of the building as it appeared in about 1969.
